Marketing Agency Boss to Raise Funds for Shooting Star Children’s Hospices by Cycling RideLondon 100 on Solar-Powered E-bike

Marketing agency boss, Chris Bullick, is gearing up to participate in the RideLondon-Essex 100 challenge to raise funds for Shooting Star Children’s Hospices. However, unlike other cyclists, Chris will be riding a Gocycle e-bike powered with 100% renewable solar energy from Solarcycle, in an effort to promote carbonless e-bike commuting.

As part of his fundraising, Chris has secured sponsorship from Gocycle, a best-in-class e-bike maker, and Solarcycle, the UK’s only ‘Solar-in-a-Box’ e-bike charge station provider. With the help of Solarcycle, Chris’s Gocycle G4i+ batteries will be charged in advance, enabling him to take nothing from the national grid, and demonstrate how to cover 100 miles in the most sustainable way possible.

Shooting Star Children’s Hospices cares for babies, children, and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families across Surrey and London. They support families from diagnosis to end of life and throughout bereavement with a range of nursing, practical, emotional, and medical care.

The Pull Agency has supported Shooting Star Children’s Hospices since 2017. They have raised funds, staff have volunteered to work on maintenance at hospices and in their shops, and Pull has done pro bono marketing work for them. Now, with the RideLondon100 challenge, Chris is hoping to raise even more funds for the charity.

Unlike his lycra-clad fellow race participants, Chris will, we are certain, be the only cyclist riding the RideLondon-Essex 100 in jeans and blazer. His aim is to show that cycling can be made accessible to a wider demographic with an e-bike to adopt a healthier and more sustainable lifestyle. Gocycle’s owners’ survey revealed that 62% of respondents have used their car less, 59% believe the bike has had a noticeable impact on their fitness, while 49% stated that their general sense of health and wellbeing has improved a lot. Gocycle’s mission is to sustainably mobilise the world with a better bike, while Solarcycle powers the switch to clean electric transport with the easiest, quick impact and cost-effective off-grid solar charging points for e-bikes.

Gocycle is one of the most efficient users of battery energy, so Chris is running a sweepstake to see how far he can get on one battery

Ellie Constable, Corporate Relationship Manager at Shooting Star said: “We’re absolutely delighted that Chris is taking on RideLondon once again for Shooting Star Children’s Hospices, but this time with a twist! We’re all keen to see how many solar-assisted miles Chris can ride on an e-bike, and this adds an exciting new element to his fundraising with a prize for the most accurate estimate from his sponsors. The support that we have received from Chris both personally and through The Pull Agency is just incredible and will continue to make such a difference to the children and families that we care for. Wishing Chris lots of luck and heartfelt thanks from us all here at Shooting Star Children’s Hospices.”

Chris Bullick commented: “The idea of bringing together Gocycle and Solarcycle seemed too good not to make happen for this event. Pull has raised funds for Shooting Star for a number of years and we are always trying to think of ideas that will capture interest and therefore sponsorship. Clean sustainable travel is such a big topic for a city like London too – it seemed like a great way to demonstrate that a solar-powered e-bike is just about as far as you can go in using a practical, powered personal urban mobility solution.”

Gocycle is one of the most efficient users of battery energy, so Chris is running a sweepstake to see how far he can get on one battery. Gocycle suggests he will get between 30 and 50 miles, depending on a number of factors, including how much effort he puts in. With the support of Gocycle and Solarcycle, Chris hopes to raise as much money as possible for Shooting Star Children’s Hospices and inspire others to make a difference in their own creative way.
